Dear Friend

The reason I started to make my own cards was that I loved sending cards to my friends. I had moved to Ontario from British Columbia and left some very special friends, and those friends have an appreciation for handmade, even those "rough" cards from my beginning days. Now that I am better at it, I love to share with many people.

The Clean and Simple Challenge at Splitcoast is to celebrate our friends, and this is the sample card I made as part of the design team.

First off, the matting and sentiment look black, but they are actually both navy blue - and I do not know why those colours would show up wrong when the other colours are spot on. 😖

To start, I die cut my watercolour panel using the stitched rectangles die, then stamped my image and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I then painted the image with Zig brushes, adding colour in layers.  Once that was finished I did the background wash and added black ink splatters, and stamped my sentiment using sapphire ink. The panel is matted with the sapphire cardstock on Neenah Antique Gray cardstock, then finished with a few crystal sequins.

I hope you enjoy this card today and thank you for visiting my blog.

I love the coloring on these flowers and the washing on your background is so subtle yet effective. Very pretty.

Your watercoloring is so beautiful, Kia. I love how you gave your dahlia petals darker tips. Your heat embossing, splattering, sentiment and sequins are so perfect for your gorgeous friend card. TFS Hugs..
