To change it up a bit I used acrylic paints along with a distress paint for this card today, and used a new to me stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.

I am also participating in the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers, visiting a company called Great Big Canvas. I found this canvas for my inspiration.
To start my stencil panel I first applied gesso to the Winsor Newton Galeria Acrylic paper and let dry. I then applied a layer of Ranger Texture Paste and while still damp I added the acrylic paints in Ultramarine Blue and a Light Blue, then removed the stencil.
Once the piece was dry I added the distress paint in Frayed Burlap along with splatters in the burlap and white acrylic. I matted the piece with a royal blue card stock and attached to my Neenah card base.
In my Mini Misti I stamped the sentiment on the acrylic paper using Ranger Archival in Manganese Blue, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I went around some of the edges with the burlap paint as well and attached it to the card using foam squares.
I enjoyed making this card, and I hope you have enjoyed the process as well.

  1. Awesome card! The distressed look really adds the pop to the card!

  2. I love this card, Kia!You captured the essence of the inspiration photo so well. The blue shades and the stenciled texture look fabulous against the gesso treated panel. The distress paint and the white acrylic are great complement. The shiny sentiment is a wonderful touch.
